Cultural Tourism Training Programme

(This project acknowledges the support of KELT and the LEADER Plus programme which is funded by the Irish Government and part-financed by the European Union under the National development Plan, 2000 - 2006).

Venue: St Paul's, Monasterevin.
Dates: July 24 - 30, 2004

Course Duration: 30 hours: from 10.00 am until 16.00 Saturday. to following Friday

Course Objective:

•  To bridge the gap between school and adult participation in Cultural Tourism in rural Ireland.

•  To initiate young people from Ireland and elsewhere into skills and techniques of Cultural Tourism Tourism so that those young people will involve themselves locally in the development of Cultural Tourism Events.

Course Content

Poetry Workshop: Saturday 24 th 9.30 - 12.00

Participants are invited to bring a sample of their own Work for analysis etc.

Song Writing Workshop Saturday 24, 2 - 5.00

Culture Field Trip to Heritage Kildare including Kildare Heritage Town, Kildare Cathedral, Moone High Cross and Athy Heritage Centre.

(Note: Bus leaves School at 10.15 am on Wednesday and returns to Monasterevin at 17.00.
