The Cassidys of Monasterevin: landlords and distillers in the 19th century:
Ciarán O'Reilly (IRCHSS, NUI Maynooth). Through their thriving brewery, the Cassidys put Monasterevin on the map and had many cultural links. These included: Gerard Manley Hopkins who often stayed with them in Monasterevin and who came to know and love the are. More info on Hopkins, the Cassidys and Monasterevin here .
